Jim Murray RC Flying Field in Columbus, Indiana

Jim Murray RC Flying Field is a model aircraft club based in Columbus, Indiana. The field supports radio-controlled (RC) flying, offering a dedicated space for hobbyists to operate small, unmanned aircraft. Located near downtown Columbus, it serves as a hub for local RC enthusiasts, providing a controlled environment for practice and competition.

The facility includes basic amenities such as a restroom and wheelchair-accessible parking. It is operated by the Bartholomew County Radio Control Flyers, a group that organizes regular flying sessions and events. While hours may vary depending on weather and member activity, the field is open to visitors who respect safety guidelines and follow club rules. The website, www.bcrcfliers.org, provides additional details on membership, event schedules, and safety protocols.

Visitors should contact the club in advance for specific operating hours or to inquire about guest policies. The field is designed for RC flying only, so drones and other aircraft are typically not permitted. Newcomers are encouraged to observe first or join a club member to learn proper flying techniques before operating their own aircraft. The small, tight-knit community welcomes beginners but expects all flyers to prioritize safety and follow established procedures.
